Website & SEO Tips for Businesses with Multiple Locations

How to Optimize Your Website for Local SEO in Boise, Idaho

Today I wanted to talk to you about how you can optimize your website for local SEO if you have a business in say one Metro area. You have an office in that Metro area, and you want to expand out of the area. You want to go to a completely different area, have another office, and then both of those office locations are going to serve multiple cities within those areas. This is something that I’ve been researching and looking into, trying to figure out what’s the best way that we can actually implement this and be able to get the best local SEO for our businesses in those two different areas.

What Type of Business Can Optimize Their Website Like This?

It’s been a little bit of a challenge trying to find what is working and what companies are doing. Everybody does something a little bit different, but the best thing that we have found, and this is going to work if you have a parent company, one owner of this company, and it’s not a franchise type of business. It’s a business that is going to operate with one website in multiple locations around the country. I mean, it can be two locations but it can also be more. This can expand really infinitely if you do it this way.

How to Structure Your Website for the Best Search Engine Optimization

The way that you would do this, you have a local construction company and you have an office, that office serves multiple cities in that area. So let’s say this is your primary website. You built this company in this location and in your footer, you have your address and all your contact information for that particular company. You may have your phone number up in the top of the header on the website. And you’re doing great, you’re ranking very well.

Local people search, you’re going to pop up specifically in that city the address is at, because of maybe your Google reviews, plus you have your privacy policy done on the website with your business address in the footer and the contact information there. That works great. You’ve even built city location pages around the cities that you serve. And then in the cities you serve, you actually show your address or your existing office location that you have for that specific location.

How to Optimize Your Website for Local SEO with Multiple Business Locations

Now what we’re able to say, okay, we’re moving or we’re going to, we’re not going to move necessarily, but we’re going to actually add an office in another part of the country, another Metro area. So when we do that, what we can do is create another header and another footer for that area. So you’re going to have, for that second location of a second header and second footer for your website. In that section, you’ll have a separate phone number that can operate for that location in the header. And then you’ll also have a separate address for that office location that will go down into the footer. So whenever someone goes to that location page, they will be able to see the actual information for that particular office location.

How it Works

Let’s say they’re going to- safer in the San Diego area, which we have a construction company in San Diego. They’re going to look at, say, you’re located in Ramona, California. They will go to a Poway California city page, but they will see the address of Ramona California beyond your footer, as well as on that contact page. They’ll be able to see that you’re located there, but the content on that city location page will be built for Poway. So you’ll be pulling for Poway, but the footer will be built to show that you are in Ramona and it’ll show your local phone number, which services all those local cities in that area.

So that’ll be the same for the other location, except it’s going to have a set of addresses, separate set of phone numbers, and then you’ll have a different set of cities. You’re going to build these location pages, very specific for every single one of those cities and have that local office address on each one of those city pages that you built. It’s a really cool way to be able to do it. You’ll rank for the local searches, all in those different areas.
