3 Ways to Build Authority in Your Niche and Increase Sales for Your Business

How to Position Yourself as Authority in Your Niche & Increase Sales for Your Business in Boise, Idaho

Hey, good morning. Today we’re going to talk about three ways that you can increase your authority for you or your company, and we’re going to cover how that’s going to help you get more leads on your website, convert more leads to sales and ultimately grow your business.

1. Create Content on the Niche You’re an Expert In

The first thing is, and this is really the easiest way, is that you’ve been in business for a long time. You’re in a certain niche, you’re an expert. So you’re a custom home builder like we are, and you go, “Hey, I’m good at what I do. And I can teach a lot about what I do.” And really build quality content that’s going to put you at the top as far as letting people know that you know what you’re talking about, and then you create that content on a weekly basis. You will push your content out via your blog, social media, anywhere that you feel that you need to get it out to your audience.

That helps to build authority. I mean, this is really the easiest way to do it. You’re an expert already. So you can talk from a position of authority and people recognize that and want to do business with you. It’s in an industry you know, and you’re able to take it and run very quickly.

How Often Should I Publish Content for My Business?

The most important thing is to post on a regular basis. Over time you start accumulating all of this content such as videos, podcasts, or interviews you do with people on your website. So when people are searching for you, they hit your site and you look like you know what you’re doing. That’s really the easiest route to do that. It doesn’t matter how your traffic is coming in. If you’re running paid ads to drive traffic to your website or you’re actually getting that traffic from organic, because you’ve been doing content marketing, or other things for your website such as blog posts that’s going to push traffic back to you organically through SEO, or maybe some relationships you develop with other people. Just by getting all of this content in a hub on your website showing that you’re the expert, you’re going to generate a lot more conversions and it’s going to be way easier to sell. So this works for both types of traffic, organic or paid traffic. You’re really just positioning yourself to make sales easier and convert leads.

2. Document Your Journey if You Aren’t an Expert

The second thing you can do, and this is really, really helpful, if you are not an expert in your industry, and this can be a business that you’re wanting to start or continue to scale, and you want to build authority in this space. You need to start documenting your journey. So I mean, if you learn something today, put a video out today or tomorrow, or it can be a podcast, then create a blog post documenting and teaching what you’re learning and the struggles you’re going through in your business and what you’re actually overcoming. As you do this, people will start to recognize that, “Hey, this guy, he knows what he’s talking about. He’s learning, he’s a step ahead of me.”

You just have to be a step ahead of them and as you continue to build this out, you start to look like the authority in these people’s eyes. You just got to be one step ahead of them in what you’re doing. So don’t think you have to have five, 10  – 20 years ahead in order to start leading and helping people. So start documenting your journey, create content and then push that out. In a year, if you’re doing it once a week, you’re going to have 52 pieces of content that you have built in this vault of authority that now you can drive traffic to, or you’ll get organic traffic coming to it. You send someone to your website and they look at you and they go, “Man, this person has a lot of authority. They actually know what they’re doing. They’re top of their game in their niche, the business that they’re in.” So that’s an excellent way to do it.

3. Surround Yourself with Experts in Your Industry That Compliment Your Niche

The other way to do it is, and this can be for if you’re new to the space or an expert in your niche because it has even more of a powerful effect. But surround yourself with people that are experts in your industry as well. So let’s say you’re a home builder, you could start interviewing architects, real estate agents, maybe lenders, other people that actually compliment your business. Surround yourself with top level people and interview them. By them sharing their knowledge with your audience, maybe there is no audience, but the recordings that you’re able to get, you push them out.

Associating with these people will allow other people to raise you up in their eyes as being a trusted expert in that industry because you associate with those people, you’ll rise to the top with them as far as the authority that they already have. You’re essentially floating with them, and you’re going to raise your business authority in the process. You learn a ton by doing that because you’re associating with people that have already got a lot of this figured out, and are at the top of their game in your industry.

3 Ways to Build Authority in Your Niche and Increase Sales

So three ways you can do it. Be an expert, document your journey, or associate with other people in your niche that compliment your business which you can do if you’re an expert or you’re just documenting your journey. Just an excellent way to build your authority and then figure out your strategy. Am I going to drive traffic to this through paid ads? Or am I going to go organic? Possibly shake hands when I go to networking events that can drive people back to my site? Ultimately you’re going to get more sales from it and you’re going to be able to grow your business.
